Dates with my Father

One of the things that Buhay Princesa promotes is bringing daughters closer to their earthly and heavenly Father.

I was on WWWIII with my father for most of my life. And this affected how I viewed our Heavenly and earthly father. I plan to write a lot of articles about this because I believe that this is very important. Studies have shown that women who did not grow up close to their fathers are more likely to get pregnant early and end up in bad relationships.

It is also important to note that when parents are not demonstrative of their love, like if they don’t say “I love you” and kiss and hug often, this can have effects on a woman’s well-being (especially emotional).

Before my father died, he often invited me to eat out with him. He spoke my love language well which was quality time. He once told me he often has difficulties sleeping well at night because he is worried about how long his money can cover medical bills. Yet he would always tell me to order everything that I want and would offer to try some more dishes.

I feel blessed because God gave me an opportunity to bond with him. I finally understood and forgave him (this took God’s grace). That even until now, I am close to many father figures. Given an opportunity, I would tell daughter that no matter how much conflict you have, cherish the time you have together.

Fathers are humans. They fall into sin. It will not help at all if we condemn them. Understanding is key.

God has been so good all along. Allow Him to show us graciousness and take away our hurts; promote healthy and loving relationships.
